Using Bails to Attach Pendants

You can turn any bead into a pendant by attaching a pendant bail. In today’s beading lesson, we’ll show you how to attach store-bought bails and how to make your own.
Store-bought bails come in a variety of styles. One of my favorites is the easy clip-on bail.
To attach one to a pendant, just press down on the short end and clip it on. Now your pendant is ready to string onto the center of a necklace.
Cut a 6” piece of wire and make a spiral on one end. String an art glass bead onto the wire, and then make a wrapped loop at the top. String the upper loop onto the center of a necklace, or attach a store-bought bail to the upper loop for a more professional finish.
To make a bail for a donut, cut a 4” piece of wire. Place the donut on the center of the wire and fold the ends up. Use one wire to make a loop above the donut. Hold the loop against the other wire and wrap the loop wire end around the base. Fold the inner wire downward to make a decorative spiral. You can use the same technique to make a bail for a coin with a hole in the center.
