Bead Baubles and Jewels - Beading Lesson (605)

Right Angle Weave
by Katie Hacker
Sponsored by: Beadalon®

Right angle weave is a versatile stitch that has tons of beading applications.

Right angle weave can be worked with nearly any type of bead. The type of bead you use will determine which thread to use. You can use heavy-duty spun Dandyline thread with size 6/0 seed beads and a number 10 hard beading needle.

To get started, pass the needle through four beads. Pass through the first three beads again to form a square, exiting at the third bead or the top of the square. Add three more beads and pass the needle through the first three beads in the square. Continue adding beads in the same manner until the first row is complete. To start the next row, exit the last stitch through the side of the square. Add three more beads and pass the needle through the first three beads in the square.

You can also use right angle weave with beading wire and larger beads to give the beadwork more body.
