My undergraduate degree in Fine Arts was complimented by my training in Rome, Italy at the Renowned Accademia delle Arti Orafe, and my apprenticeship at Bottega Mortet in Italy established in 1889. My jewelry designs represent the broad interest I developed in a number of areas, including: bead weaving and working with wire.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
My inspiration comes from embracing the elements at my work station and asking myself,“how can I celebrate or embellish this bead, wire, chain or whatever I am using at the moment to create something special.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT AS A JEWELRY DESIGNER?
Learning the “Lost Wax Process of jewelry making while studying in Italy was perhaps one of my most challenging and exciting accomplishments as a designer. However, the ultimate gratification is the positive feedback I receive from my customers as well as companies like Beadalon.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK?
Every day I am learning and experimenting with new elements in different ways. Creating special pieces of jewelry is very exciting and provides me with a wonderful sense of accomplishment. I receive a great deal of satisfaction in taking simple beads, chains, wire or other elements and using my imagination to create jewelry that is not only custom-made, but trendy and high quality, with a price tag that is affordable for almost every woman.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BEADING OR JEWELRY MAKING TECHNIQUE?
It is difficult to limit my favorite technique to just one area. Among my most enjoyable are bead weaving as it relates to peyote, spiral and herringbone stitches, as well as working with wire.
